Okay, so we'll go ahead and get started.

And when we get started here in just a moment,

we're going to be picking up in St. Paul's first epistle to Timothy,

the beginning of chapter 5.

And we're really, I mean, this evening we're going to finish St. Paul's first epistle to Timothy.

We're now well after the therefore, right, in terms of how St. Paul typically structures his epistles we've talked before.

He lays out some sort of teaching theology, makes some points, right, about who we are in Christ

and who Christ is and what Christ is done.

And then there's a transitional word almost always, therefore,

he goes from that to then applying that to whatever the situation is in the place.

Now we talked about already that since this is,

and this is the first one of these that we're going through,

but we're about to go through some more, since these that we're reading now are letters from St. Paul to one person,

obviously in this case, St. Timothy, but also we're going to see Titus and Philemon,

that it's a little different in tone and tenor and subject matter, right?

Because he's not writing to a church community or a group of geographically nearby church communities

to address their sort of practical issues that are going on.

Rather, he's writing to a person with whom he has this,

as we've seen already so far, this father-son relationship, spiritual father, spiritual son,
