Reformed Church, but now an Orthodox priest serving at Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church

in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Okay, so we'll go ahead and get started.

And when we get started here, in just a minute we're going to be picking up at the beginning of St. Paul's first epistle to the Grinthians chapter 7.

So, because it's been a little bit, it's been a couple of weeks to sort of catch us up

we're sort of in the midst of a section where St. Paul is dealing with some issues going on

to put it politely some issues going on at the church in Corinth.

We read sort of his introduction where he laid out some of his theological themes that he's

going to be talking about.

And in this most recent section, he's specifically dealing with issues concerning sexual

morality and immorality, including a particular case where somebody needed to be excommunicated

that we talked about last time.

And so he's sort of still in that arena here where we're going to pick up in Chapter 7.

He's going to be speaking now of the more positive end of that.

He's gone through what we read last time we talked

about was mainly on the sexual immorality side with the particular case that was going on there,

that they had sort of left undisciplined. They were just sort of letting this person's behavior stand

and St. Paul was saying you cannot let this stand. We talked about how that was not

just a question, though part of it was the holiness and purity of the community, but we talked about

how it was also for his sake they couldn't let it stand, that it was not loving for them to allow
