Verse 20, let each one remain in the same calling in which he was called.

Were you called while a slave? Do not be concerned about it.

But if you could be made free, rather use it.

For he who is called in the Lord while a slave is the Lord's freedman.

Likewise, he was called while free is Christ's slave.

You are bought at a price.

Do not become slaves of men.

Rather, and let each one remain with God in that state in which he was called.

So he uses another example.

He's still within the realm of talking about marriage.

But he's giving these other examples, these other related examples. And he's saying,

look, if you come to Christ and you're a slave, fine, right? You're free in the sight of Christ.

Don't worry about trying to get free of your master, right? Or demanding, you know, because from the

very beginning, Christianity and the idea of slavery are

not compatible yeah but Christianity and disobedience or revolution are also incompatible right so

that's why st paul has to say to a slave who becomes a Christian, look, you need to remain in the state where you are.

Don't run away.

Don't disobey the civil commands.
