Zapperecia Nuclear Power Plant, the largest in Europe, six containment vessels,

in the part of Ukraine that is under severe strain from attacks by the Russians

and attacks by the Ukrainians. This is Zapperecia Oblast, Eastern Ukraine. I welcome Henry

Sikolsky, the Executive Director of the Non-Proliferation Policy Education Center to help

me with the technical details of what is reported to be serial anomalies at the plant in these last

hours that suggests instability or at the very worst bad maintenance by what we're told is a

crew of Russ Adam, that's the Russian nuclear energy unit, and complaints by the

Energo Adam, that's the Ukrainian nuclear energy unit, cross blame. Henry, a very good even to you.

There are three different matters to deal with. One is power line from the outside. Another is

number four that has been in hot shutdown to provide power. Another is number six that is

recommended to go from cold shutdown to hot shutdown. This is a lot of technical language,

so I begin with the power line. The news from Ukraine, from Kiev, Russian is not giving us news.

Last night, the temporarily occupied Zapperecia Nuclear Power Plant managed to

connect 750 kilowatts to the main overhead power line. The reason for the disconnection,

which was reported 24 hours ago, was a wire break as a result of enemy shelling.
