South Africa, a member of the BRICS, the very important coalition of trading partners who also include adversaries of the

United States but not South Africa. Russia and China yes but not to South Africa

however South Africa has just gone through an election leading to questions raised

about something that was assumed these many last decades since Nelson Mandela

was freed from incarceration by the apartheid regime of South Africa.

That is, the African National Congress, known affectionately as the ANC, is no longer

the overwhelming majority of the legislature.

There is now reason for the ANC under President Ramaposa to seek an alliance with another one of the parties.

He is a geopolitical futures analyst as well as the host of Geopolitical Pickle, his podcast.

He is in Cape Town and watching the negotiations that have a clock ticket.

By Sunday next, there must be an announcement of the coalition.

That means commanding a majority in the legislature

in order to form a new government.
