This is a series of CVS, I in the world. I'm John Bachelor. Green, climate change, climate

politics. I welcome Joseph Sternberg, a member of the

editor board of the Wall Street Journal, he writes political economics, he's

based in London, and he's looking at what climate change politics have done

to two parties or more in the United Kingdom.

We begin in Scotland where I spent a very happy year in seminary, once upon a time.

Since then the Scottish National Party has changed the politics and yet Joseph a very

good evening to you welcome back from your journey overseas but now that you're home

Scottish National Party

has, as they said of the Weimar Republic,

it first was murdered and then it committed suicide.

I hate John. So the thing to you. I hate John.

So the thing to understand is that although Scotland is part of the United Kingdom, it enjoys a lot of

what are called devolved powers.

This is authority that the Scottish government gets from the

United Kingdom Central government in London to manage Scotland's own affairs. And crucially, one of these areas has to do with climate policies,

such as carbon dioxide emissions to combat global warming or climate change and that turned out to be the thing that

brought down the most recent administration in Scotland because you had had a coalition between two left-leaning

parties, the Greens, and their much bigger partner, the Scottish National Party, and

that fell apart because the country was,
