The Islamic Republic of Iran, the threat of a suspect nuclear weapons program, all these years.

The Biden administration, looking to in some fashion, re-awaken the JCPOA of 2015.

I learned from a new article at the Dispatch by the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies,

Fellows, Andrea Sturker and Rich Goldberg, that the ambition of re-awakening the JCPOA is alive,

despite what I've read and heard these last two years of Iran making unusually hostile demands.

It's bad acting in the region, and general the threat that Iran represents to its neighbors,

including Israel, but not exclusively Israel.

However, we come now to an important event.

The IAEA, the nuclear watchdog I learned from Andrea and Rich, is meeting on June 5th in Europe.

And at that point, a decision will be made about how Iran is not cooperating, how Iran's activities are, in fact, highly suspective, not generally hostile,

when it comes to the suspect nuclear weapons program.

So we need to look at the story so far on the eve of this meeting, and what the meeting can do, what it means at the UN,

what it means for now the complication of the fact that Iran, not only a bad actor in its own neighborhood,

but linked to Russia's aggression in Ukraine, linked to China's aggression in the South China Sea, and its alliance with Russia.

That's complicated enough.
