Guantanamo, Cuba, decisions early in the War on Terror, the longest war,

that Guantanamo would be the containment area for the illegal combatants detained captured in the war in Afghanistan and

across the UMA.

I welcome Bill Rajo, the Senior Fellow for the Foundation for the Defense of Democracy, who has watched Guantanamo,

Afghanistan, and the long war for more than two decades, and is the exact right person to go to with a new question that was an old question.

Who is Kalichik Mohamed and his two accomplices who are now at the center of a controversy.

Earlier this week, the Pentagon said an agreement had been reached with Kalichik Mohammed,

a man named Binatash, and a man named Al-Housowrie.

Under the plea deal, the three prisoners would have received life sentences.

Retired Brigadier General Susan K. Escalier signed a pretrial agreement last week.

However, the news is that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin revoked that deal Friday just days

ago that would have taken the death penalty off the table for these three

prisoners part of the September 11th 2001 terrorist attacks. In a news release the Secretary of Defense said that the final decision should

quote rest with me as the Superior Authority under the Military Commissions Act of 2009.

In partial response so far, Representative Mike Rogers of Alabama, chair of the House Armed Services Committee, sent a letter to the Secretary of Defense demanding

answers about the plea deal. He said he was deeply shocked by the agreement and it was a gut punch.
