And we begin today with two big dramas playing out in Washington, D.C.

First, there's Whiplash surrounding the number two man at the

Justice Department. Yesterday words surface that Deputy Attorney General Rod

Rosenstein expected to be fired so he reportedly resigned before they could happen.

Then word came down that he in fact did not step down that the president wants to meet with

him Thursday when Mr. Trump returns from the United Nations.

Either way, his days seem to be numbered.

Why is this important?

Because Mr. Rosenberg oversees the Russia investigation and whatever happens to him will have a big impact on how and if that moves forward

Rosenstein has served under President's Bush, Obama, and, and is the longest serving U.S. attorney in history.

And just down the road, there's another new twist in the Supreme Court nomination of

Brett Kavanaugh.

California Senator Diane Feinstein is calling for the hearings to be put on hold indefinitely

now that another former classmate of Mr. Kavanaugh

says he disrespected her. Mr. Kavanaugh says he

disrespected her. Mr. Kavanaugh denies all the charges.

These character questions are important because being a judge is a lifelong job.

If appointed he'll be interpreting law for decades. Right now

the high stakes hearing is still scheduled for Thursday, which is clearly shaping

up to be a busy day in the nation's capital.
