when the Chancellor rejected a call from Kemi Badock for cross-party cooperation on welfare cuts.

We won't be taking any advice from the leader of the opposition

who is part of a government that crashed the economy.

The Conservatives aren't impressed.

I fear the dismissive response of the Chancellor fails to acknowledge

either the serious state of public finances

or the serious difficulties of her own position.

And everyone wants to have their say over the future of the Chegos Islands.

This guarantees the continued UK operational control of Diego Garcia for the next 99 years and beyond.

The Chancellor Rachel Reeves has dismissed criticism of her handling of the economy

from the Conservative leader, Kemi Badnock.

The leader of the opposition told the BBC that she was really worried that the government

might be forced to go to the International Monetary Fund for a bailout because of increased borrowing

costs. In 1976, the then Labour government was forced to apply for an emergency loan from the IMF.

Kemi Badenock called for a cut to welfare spending and an end to what she called a doom loop

of rising taxes and precarious public finances.

In the Commons, a Conservative shadow treasury minister, Richard Fuller, challenged the Chancellor.
