And we begin with teens finally admitting the obvious. They are addicted to their smartphones. A new Pew report

finds more than half of girls 13 to 17 acknowledge spending too much mobile time

on social media while boys say they spend too much of their time gaming.

What's more, they don't particularly like that feeling of dependence.

Many report feeling anxious, lonely, or upset when their device isn't nearby.

Parents, you're not off the hook.

50% of kids say their moms and dads are also addicted.

If there's any good news to be had, it's that kids are now aware of

some of the pitfalls and are choosing, on their own, to limit screen time.

Verizon's decision to limit screen time is causing some serious blowback.

Northern California firefighters say the carrier throttled or slowed down their wireless data speeds as they tried to battle the largest

wildfire in state history.

Crews couldn't send emails or update documents and some of their high-tech

tracking equipment became useless.

Verizon admits the mistake and says it usually lifts data limits in emergency situations.

But, for reasons unclear, didn't this time.

The biggest weather threat in decades continues to pound Hawaii this morning.

Hurricane Lane is already dumped more than a foot of rain, up to 30 inches as expected.

Winds are topping 130 miles an hour.
