This is Handel on the Law, marginal legal advice, where I tell you you have absolutely no case.

Here is a case, and it has to do with racism.

And generally, there is a lot of arguing that we have to look at life through the history of racism, critical thinking.

And there's a whole argument there.

You know, I mean, we do have, have had systemic racism throughout the years, slavery,

the original sin of this country.

And so there's no question that we're not doing enough,

although we've done a lot.

But here is a case that, man, it's right on,

although it may not even be racist,

because it happens to involve a black woman

and a bunch of white doctors.

All right, so you have a lady by name Henrietta Lax, who died in 1951. Can you imagine?

It's that long ago. And when she died, the doctors at John Hopkins Hospital took her cervical cells

without her knowledge, which in those days was not particularly illegal.

And they used those cervical cells in research, and those cells that she took actually created

an entire area of medicine of which so much is based on.

She actually became the first, these became the first human cells to continuously grow and reproduce in lab dishes.

And the basis of medicine is doing exactly that.

So her cells went on to become that cornerstone.

And so, okay, and biotech companies have made billions of dollars in using Henrietta Lax's cells.

And the family is saying, hey, you think we're not entitled because look at the value of what you took from our ancestor to use for you to make billions of dollars and you didn't even tell her.
