After developing his chops in Pittsburgh, Daru moved to Brooklyn, where he performed

Ray Angry, Slum Village, and Talib Kuali, for whom he was musical director. During a stint with

Detroit's black milk, Daru's drumming caught the attention of Jack White, who invited him

to join his band.

Aside from his work as a sideman, Daru is also a prolific solo artist and producer.

His many releases are available from his own label, Rusik Records. I spoke with Daru in a friend's backyard in his recently adopted hometown of Nashville.
