Hey guys, how's it going? So before we get into this week's podcast, I've just got to give you a little

heads up that there's a, there's a fly here in the studio. So if you, if I'm speaking, you hear sort of like a

pass my, obviously into your earbuds or wherever you're listening to this, whether it be in the

gym or the car or walking the dog or

whatever. It's actually a fly dive bombing me. He's a little monkey. He just keeps on coming.

Anyway, let me tell you about who we've got today on this week's podcast. It is John Thorne,

who most people will know him as the double bass player with the experimental

trip-hop duo Lamb. He's a really, really killing bass player. And he's also played with a whole

bunch of other amazing artists such as Scott Matthews, the jazz sax player, Gillard Atzman,

who's amazing if you haven't heard him, by the way.

Liam Bailey and Robert Fripp. He's recorded with a ton of different people and I've seen

John many times over in Manchester. He's actually living down, I think he's on the Isle of

White right now, living down there, but he was like a big guy on the Manchester jazz scene

for a long time now a few years back he wrote and recorded an album called watching the well

in tribute to his mentor Danny Thompson so we're going to find out all about that and he's also

going to tell us tell us about his trio with the Scottish singer-songwriter

James Yorkson who you definitely need to check out and Sousail Yuzaf Khan hopefully I

hopefully I said that right um who's an amazing sarangari player from India and they'll also be

playing the huge festival over here, which is called

Glastonbury. They're going to be playing in Latitude and the Green Man Festival as well,

which are some of the biggest festivals over here in the UK. And he's also got another

solo album out this year. Yep, he's a busy man on the static caravan label and a 21st anniversary tour coming up with Lamb. So he's got
