And we begin with the sale of fireworks just exploding.

With so many cities across the US cancelling public displays for the nation's

birthday on Saturday, many families are opting to put on their own shows where it's

legal to do so. The head of Phantom Fireworks, which is dozens of stores throughout the country,

initially thought sales would go up about 15%. But he says it's more like a hundred

15% increase from last year.

Some varieties have already sold out,

and it's predicted there will be a lot of empty shelves

by the end of the week.

And it's not just this coming weekend.

There have been reports of illegal fireworks

going off all over the nation recently.

One explanation, people are bored

after being in lockdown for three months,

and they're turning to some affordable but also slightly risky

entertainment. This year's B.E.T. Award show had all the usual big stars and

hoopla on the Black Entertainment Television Network with one very big change.

Everyone attended virtually. There were also a lot of emotional speeches and calls for

an end to racial injustice.
