Good morning and welcome the kid news. I'm Kim. Today is Monday June 24th 2019 and we begin with

Toy Story 4 crushing the competition. The film took in a hundred and eighteen million dollars at the box office this weekend.

The next closest was Child's Play with only 14 million.

Despite the decisive win, Toy Story's take was considerably less than the 140 million predicted.

Critics aren't concerned and say Disney shouldn't be either.

The reviews are universally great, which will likely lead more people into the theater in the coming weeks.

And even if that's not the case, Disney has three more movies in the queue.

The Lion King and Spider-Man, Far From home, premiere next month, followed by Star Wars,

The Rise of Skywalker in December.

A little later this morning,

the world will find out which city

will host the 2026 Olympic Games.

The finalists, Milan, Cortina, Italy, and a unique bid by Stockholm, Sweden to partner with

neighbouring Latvia.

The big issue for the Olympic Committee is who can deliver the games at a reasonable cost to their

own taxpayers.

Russia's 2014 games in Sochi cost the country a whopping $51 billion dollars a sum that caused Canada Switzerland

and Austria to drop their bids to host 2026 over fears they'd also have to spend that much.

The White Sox are fears they'd also have to spend that much.

The White Sox aren't waiting for Major League Baseball to act.

The team has announced it's extending its protective netting all the way down the foul lines

to the foul poles in the outfield.
