the longest burning light bulb in the world

about to celebrate its 125th birthday. Way back in 1901, firefighters installed the hand-blown bulb

as a dangling nightlight in their Livermore, California, firehouse. And with the exception of a few

hours due to a power outage, it's continued to burn

bright ever since. For reasons unknown, this overachiever has made a mockery of replacement bulbs

by staying alight longer than any human has been alive and outlasting at least 20 presidents.

Ceremonies to mark what is known as the Centennial Bulb will be held

at Firehouse 6 this weekend.
