Good morning and welcome to Kid News. I'm Kim. Today is Thursday, June 4th, 2026. And we begin

with a scene as bizarre as it is stinky. New York police are investigating a mystery

involving groups of people captured on video emerging from the city's sewer system. Officers were first

alerted last week when a witness reported seeing eight people remove a manhole cover, disappear

underground, and then re-emerge roughly three hours later, replacing the cover and driving

away. Another incident was reported not far away with men carrying flashlights

and wearing hip waiters. One witness described it as three random guys walking around in a strange

suit, open the sewer and go in like ninja turtles. It remains unclear whether the incidents are

connected, but the NYPD says it has examined the sewer system and it

appears there is no damage and nothing was left behind. One law enforcement official told NBC

news, it's possible the group is looking for valuables that gets swept up into the sewage.
