And the So it's very rare that my wife actually calls me at work. So when she does, it always

gives me a moment to pause. It's very disconcerting. My phone rings and on the other side is silence, but I can hear that she's weeping.

So immediately I'm thinking I've done something wrong.

Somehow I've screwed up something and I don't even know I'm searching in my brain like,

what did you mess up on?

So I very cautiously ask her,

Honey, why are you crying?

And in a broken voice she says, nothing, nothing.

I press on. Tell me why you're crying then.

What are you doing?

She then goes on to explain that she's in the closet.

She's cleaning up. She's holding on to this letter.

And it's an acceptance letter from a private school that my son applied to.

So I can envision her in her closet, just breaking down the emotional weight of all this is just being released

and she doesn't know how to process it.

First of all, I'm relieved that, A, it's not something that I did, and two, that is not something that we can't work through.

To give you a little context here, my oldest son, he's 14 years old, and he recently applied out of his school to go to boarding school on the East

Coast. Now we went through a lot of trouble to apply to several schools, but he had his heart set on this one school in particular.

We went through numerous interviews, wrote essays, filled out the application,

we even flew to the East Coast to tour the school.

As I explained this to my wife, this was the outcome we were hoping for.

This was the result that we wanted. So there's no need to be sad. She says, I know, I know.
