GM is introducing an industry first safety feature that prevents young drivers from shifting into gear without their seatbelt on.

It's all part of the company's teen driver package, which can also be used to set speed

alerts, a maximum speed, and give parents report cards on their kids' driving behavior.

The new features will roll out this summer on the 2020 Traverse SUV, Malibu

sedan, and Colorado pickup truck.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, only 59% of teens say they use their seatbelts all the time and
