Today is Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025. And we begin with

farewell plans coming together for Pope Francis. This morning, a procession led by Cardinals brought

his body to St. Peter's Basilica, where the faithful will get to pay their respects until Friday

evening. The funeral itself is scheduled for 10 a.m.

local time Saturday, which translates to 4 a.m. on the East Coast for those wanting to watch it

live. Dignitaries from around the world get a front row seat, including President Trump and

the First Lady, but millions more are expected to flood St. Peter's Square and surrounding streets.

When he is finally laid to rest, he will do so in simplicity. According to his will, and

unlike other popes, he did not request any mention of his papacy. The only inscription on his

casket will be his chosen name, Francisco.

Selection of a new pope, which is a process known as a conclave, will not begin before May 6th. Once it does get underway, 135 cardinals under the age of 80, will be sequestered,
