In today’s podcast we’re talking to Danny Mo Morris about his long-standing love affair with the bass! You’ve got to like Danny Mo Morris. For starters, he is one of the unsung heroes of American bass playing, having spent 28 years teaching at Boston’s world-renowned Berklee College of Music. Despite the demands of his job, Danny is a relaxed, laid-back guy who’s love of the bass guitar began in his high-school days and continued to grow through many years of gigging and studying.

Danny Mo Morris has been teaching at Berkeley since 1988.

Now, when I say Berkeley, I mean the prestigious Berkeley College of Music based in Boston.

He's been one of the longest serving bass faculty members there.

So you can only imagine who his students have been.

Now Danny is a great player. He's one of my really of the last few years, one of the biggest

inspirations in what I've been doing and what I've been building on for my base playing

looking at those old school players and Danny's really, you know, he's got that thing going on, man,

he's got that James James Jameson, the duck done, he's got just that thing, that old school

funk vibe, you know, he's just dripping in funk. That sounds pretty weird, doesn't it? But, you know, he's just, he's, he's just dripping in funk. Um, that sounds pretty weird, doesn't it? Yeah. But, you know, he's a seriously funky dude. And I saw him on YouTube, actually. That's the first place I saw Danny. It just blew me away. And I, I, I, I, I, I, I've, I've, I've just got to get you involved in Scott's Bass lessons in some way.
