Summer is just around the corner.

So close we can almost feel the sun on our shoulders as we sit by the pool.

Here are the kids laughing at dusk as they gather on the lawn to play with friends and taste the hamburger and chips at that annual Fourth of July barbecue.

With summer comes several important patriotic holidays for Americans.

Memorial day where we kick off the summer and we get a day off of work.

Flag day which I know no one really celebrates but it's my mom's birthday so I always think of it as important.

And of course the Fourth of July where we gather with friends and family and watch the fireworks booming overhead.

But these holidays are more than just an opportunity to take a day off of work, gather at the pool for a barbecue and enjoy a parade or a fun evening with friends and family.
