Now, California is known as probably the most liberal state in the United States,

but there are some conservatives out there.

And there he is one Republican assembly member by the name Bill Sassaly, I think is his name.

That's how to pronounce it. And he's out in Riverside County, very conservative area here in

Southern California. And he's introduced a bill that would give school districts three days to notify

parents in writing that once any school employee learns

that a student is identifying as a gender that doesn't align with their birth certificate

or other official records. In other words, parents have to be told that their kids are transgender.

There is one woman in the state who, in fact, was fired by a school district out in that area because she simply refused to follow the law, which says that parents cannot be told.

And this law would change it.

And what she did is argue her Christian beliefs as far as transgender is concerned.

And she, in fact, told the parents.

Now, this is one of those things where religious beliefs get into school districts, and it drives me completely nuts.

I have often said that when you have religion mixed with the state, with legislation,

it's a recipe, not so much for disaster, but some real turmoil in how we live as a society.

And then my analogy is, what if it was a teacher's Christian belief

that creationism has to be taught and not evolution
