And we begin with an election result that just about everyone can rally around.

The new mayor of Fairhaven Vermont is a therapy dog.

18 animals were on the ballot for the honorary position, but it was a King Charles

Spaniel named Murphy who pulled out the win by edging out the incumbent, a goat named Lincoln.

The tradition to name an animal to the town's top post began a couple of years ago as a fundraiser

for new playground equipment. Any pet owner can add

their furry friend to the race for $5. Better still, kids get to vote, which

means a hands-on chance to learn civics and the importance of elections.

As for the newly elected mayor, Murphy will be the face of Fairhaven's fundraising campaign

and make appearances at town events, all while maintaining his day job as a certified therapy dog

that visits nursing homes, schools, and hospitals.

Some refreshing news from the Democratic side of the presidential race,

former Vice President Joe Biden has gone on record saying his campaign will stay positive,

meaning no mudslinging or personal attacks on the other candidate, Vermont

Senator Bernie Sanders. And for his part, Mr Sanders says he will not drag out the

nomination process if Mr Biden has a clear lead heading into this

summer's convention. For sure they are the last two major contenders standing.

Senator Elizabeth Warren threw in the tell yesterday after a disappointing showing on Super Tuesday.

She has not yet said who she intends to endorse.
