Good morning and welcome to Kid News. I'm Tori. Today is Monday, March 9th, 2020.

And we begin with an 11 year old about to make history as one of the youngest Olympians of all time.

Hend Zaza is a table tennis player from Syria who took down an athlete 30 years

older to qualify for the 20-20 games this summer in Tokyo.

The win means Zaza will be the youngest

athlete at the Olympics in more than 50 years, but she probably won't be the only

pre-teen. British skateboard or Sky Brown will turn 12 just before the games begin and is also

expected to qualify. As for the youngest Olympian in history, that honor goes to a 10-year-old

gymnast from Greece back in 1896.

At long last, we have a name for the next Mars rover.

Seventh-grader Alex Mathar of Burke Virginia submitted the word perseverance and a winning essay to beat

out 28,000 other entries in a contest held by NASA.

The Space Agency honored his win by making the naming announcement at Alex's school and letting him

read his essay live on NASA TV. Alex says he ditched video games when he was 11 to focus on

space and now plans to become an engineer and work at the

agency.

The rover itself is undergoing final preparations at the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral,

Florida for a July launch.

Alex and his family will be there, courtesy of NASA, to watch it head skyward in person.

Tomorrow will be another big day in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Voters in six states, including Delegate Rich Michigan, head to the polls to cast ballots.

They won't have as many choices this time.
