Summary

Am a Zoroastrian by birth but a theosophist by inclination; was educated in South India as a civil engineer and worked in Pakistan from 1950. I learned TM in 1974 from an American teacher who introduced it for the first time in the country. Realizing its great value, I traveled to Switzerland in early 1975 and graduated as a teacher of TM under the guidance of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi who had popularized its practice in the West. As the only teacher in Pakistan initially, I organized the TM Movement there and was its National Leader for 12 years until my wife and I left in 1987 to settle in the US. Several thousand were taught during this period. In 1981, at Maharishi's invitation, I visited India and graduated as a TM-Sidhi teacher at his ashram in Rishikesh. Have been a member of the Theosophical Society for 44 years and am at present the president of the Houston Lodge, which is 98 years old. The motto of the Society is "There is no religion higher than Truth", to which all seekers would subscribe. Interview recorded 4/28/2010. 0:32.6	Engineer. And I don't know Folly very well, but it becomes very highly recommended by a friend of ours, a mutual friend of ours, named Charles Rubio, and the two of them live down in Houston, Texas.

0:56.2	So Folli, if you would, please tell us a little bit and then we'll proceed with the interview. So, Folly, if you would,
1:01.2	please tell us a little bit about yourself, how you ended up in Houston, what your background is, and so on. Okay. Well, by both, I'm a Zoroastrian, which is a very small minority now, but in the long past had lived empires with a head capital in Persia.
1:19.6	One emperor Cyrus, the Great, is mentioned in the Bible, and he was a Zoroastrian emperor to release the Jews from captivity in Babylon
1:31.2	and helped them to build their temple
1:34.9	and their prayers contained his name all the time since that time.
1:41.7	But now after Islam came into Persia, a few of us migrated 1400 years ago to India and
1:52.0	now they are scattered all over the world under 200,000. I was educated in South India but worked all my life in Pakistan and retired in America
2:05.6	to join our two of the three children we have here. In between, I became a teacher of
2:15.6	transcendental meditation in 1975 and was the national leader in Pakistan
2:24.3	until we left in 1957. I'm also a member of the Theosophical Society since 1966 and at present and the president of the
2:38.5	Christian law of this society which had branches all over the world and the world
2:45.6	headquarters in Madras, Chennai at present. Mm-hmm. Good.

2:55.6	Now, you and I spoke a couple of weeks ago,
