Good morning and welcome to Kid News. I'm Tori. It's Monday, February 17, 2025.

And in all likelihood, you're listening while enjoying a day off from school. For that,

you can thank the President of the United States, not just our current Commander-in-Chief,

but all 45 who've served our country because today is a federal holiday in their honor.

But that wasn't always the case.

Back in the 1800s, the recognition was intended for only one president, George Washington,

and was held on February 22nd, his actual birthday. These days, President's Day is used to celebrate all U.S. presidents, past and present, and it's always observed on the third Monday in February.

And while our history books are chock full of information about those who've reached the highest office in the land, sometimes the most

interesting details don't make the cut. To make up for that, here are some of the more unique

facts about the CEOs of the USA, courtesy of history.org. Our first, George Washington, was not only a

hero general who led the country through the American Revolution,

he also created the badge of military merit to honor the heroism of his soldiers.

The nation's oldest military decoration is now known as the Purple Heart and features his likeness.

Less known, his ability to bust a move. Mr. Washington reportedly

loved to dance and firsthand accounts from back in the day suggest he was quite good at it.
