Good morning and welcome the Kid News. I'm Tori. Today is Tuesday, February 18, 2025. And we begin with

ridiculously cold weather dropping from Canada into the U.S. This morning temperatures in parts of

Montana and North Dakota could hit 45 degrees below zero Fahrenheit. And that's the real temperature. Add in the wind,

and it'll make it feel more like 60 below. Those folks are getting the worst of it, but the deep

freeze will be felt everywhere from the Canadian border to Texas. This polar vortex is the

10th and coldest this winter. It happens when the perfect storm of weather

events in the Arctic combined to push air that should stay around the North Pole into the

U.S. and Europe. And while the icy fist of Old Man Winter grips the plain states, those in the

southeast are waterlogged. A weekend of torrential rain caused massive flooding in Kentucky,

West Virginia, Georgia, and Tennessee. The star of the NBA's All-Star weekend wasn't an

all-star. He wasn't even on one of the four teams. 18-year-old Jaron Barajas, who just graduated

high school last year, was chosen at random from the crowd to go up against Milwaukee Buckstar Damian Lillard in the Mr. Beast $100,000 challenge.

His task sink one shot from behind the three-point line before Mr. Lillard could hit three of them.

With 30 seconds left on the clock,

Jaron banked one in. The crowd went crazy, as did TNT announcers Shaquille O'Neal and

Kenny Smith and the mascots who picked Jaron up and dumped him in a box of money.
