Tesla Podcast. My name is Rob Maower and today we are talking about a potential new gas tax as well as more current owner reservation holders being invited to configure model 3.

Tesla stock on Wednesday closed down 0.42% to $322.31, this compared to the

NASDAQ up 1.86%. Supercharger network update, we are still at 1,162 supercharging locations.

There was news yesterday on a potential gasoline tax.

Politica reporting that, quote, President Donald Trump endorsed the idea of a 25 cent per gallon gas tax increase at a meeting Wednesday with lawmakers

People who attended the session said end quote

Apparently the gasoline tax would be phased in over the next five years. It would apply to both

gasoline and diesel and it could raise more than 350 billion dollars in government

revenue to spend on infrastructure. The current gasoline tax in the United States federally is

18.4 cents per gallon and for diesel it's 24.4 cents per gallon. So this would be a

considerable increase over the current level of tax on fuel.

And remember this is at the federal level,

so each individual state or locality may have different taxes.

On average, those mix out to about 35 cents per gallon.

So on average, tax in total on gasoline per gallon

is about 53 cents.

According to Tax Foundation.org,

the United States gasoline taxes are the second lowest amongst developed countries, only behind Mexico, which does not have a gasoline tax.

Canada is apparently the third lowest, and they have a gasoline tax on average of $1.25 per gallon, so more than two times that 53

cent average in the United States.

In Europe, the gasoline taxes are much higher.
