And we begin with six more weeks of winter. That's this year's forecast from the famous weather

prognosticating woodchuck,

Puxatani Phil. Yesterday, as happens every February 2nd, Phil was roused from his borough in Gobblers

Naa, Pennsylvania, to give his prediction. If he casts no shadow, spring is right around the corner.

But if he sees it, which he did early Sunday morning, we need to keep those snow jackets and shovels handy.

Phil's forecasting dates back 132 years, and even though he's the most famous of the groundhogs,

he reportedly gets it right only about 35% of the time. Some of his fellow forecasters have a

significantly better track record. New York's Staten

Island Chuck is the most reliable and has precisely predicted the arrival of spring with 85%

accuracy, according to Noah. Georgia's general Beauregard Lee is right behind at 80%. Poor Phil is not

even in the top 10. He's currently 17th most reliable.
