Good morning and welcome to Kid News. I'm Kim. Today is Friday, January 31st, 2025.

And we begin with those two stranded space astronauts stepping outside their cosmic home away from home

together for the first time in nearly eight months.

Sunni Williams and Butch Wilmore exited the International Space Station for a joint

five-and-a-half-hour spacewalk yesterday.

While outside, they worked on unbolting a bulky antenna and collecting evidence of microbial

life that may have hitched a ride from Earth, attached itself to the

airlock of the orbiting outpost, and somehow survived the vacuum of space.

Yesterday's walk was Sunni's ninth, which also happened to launch her into the galactic record

books for the most time spent outside the lab by a woman, topping retired astronaut Peggy

Whitson, who had clocked 60 hours and 21 minutes over her career.
