John Darnial is a disarmingly nice guy.

Humble to a fault, thoughtful, cool as hell.

I've been lucky enough in doing these wheels-off interviews to have spoken to people with whom I have pre-existing relationships. Friends, John Darneal, is a guy I had never met before

and was frankly terrified of meeting. He's done everything I've ever dreamed of doing

at a very high level. Written brilliant songs, made great records, top-to-bottom albums,

LPs, experiences for the listener, written novels. He's been nominated for the National Book Award

for Fiction for his first novel, Wolf and White Van. He is a true Renaissance man, and consequently

would probably be able to get away with being a straight-up jerk. But guess what?

He's not.
