Good morning and welcome to Kid News. I'm Tori. Today is Wednesday, January 30th, 2019.

And we begin with a windy city bracing for what could be its coldest day in history.

The high temperature in Chicago today is forecast to be 15 degrees below zero,

colder than Siberia, Mount Everest, and even the South Pole right now.

And that's not the worst of it.

Other parts of Northern Illinois are bracing for the mercury to dip to minus 35.

Add the wind and forecasters predict readings of minus 65 degrees across the plains and northern

Minnesota.

But this much talked about deep freeze isn't limited to the upper Midwest.

The Polar Vortex is also taking a deep dive south and east.

More than 90 million Americans are in its grip.
