Today is Thursday, January 31st, 2019.

And we begin with another privacy black eye for Facebook, and this time it's for targeting teens.

Since 2016, the company has been paying mobile phone users as young as 13, $20 a month to share nearly all of their data.

The program, dubbed Project Atlas, tracks everything from a participant's emails,

web browsing, photos, text messages, and even their Amazon purchases.

While it's true that anyone agreeing, first needs to opt in and teens must have parental consent, Facebook's name is conspicuously absent from the third

party sign-up page. Tech Crunch was the first to expose the program and within hours Apple shut it down on all iOS devices for

violating privacy rules. For its part Facebook admits to the program says it does

indeed pay for research but rejects any suggestion that it is spying.
