0:17.0	So today, we're going to talk about the second letter in T-E-A-M and E for Empathy.
0:24.7	And I think that you wanted to start us with a little story.
0:29.7	So why don't you go ahead, David?
0:31.7	Well, after I began using cognitive therapy, I think we talked last time I left my career in biological
0:42.3	psychiatry and decided to go into clinical practice using cognitive therapy because I was just so excited about seeing people recover who I've been stuck with. It was a fantastic experience. And
0:57.1	I was really good at technical stuff early on. I learned a lot of methods from back. I created
1:04.4	a lot of methods. And I used to have the idea that if I just had enough therapy methods,
1:09.6	I could help anybody. But there were always
1:13.7	some patients that I couldn't quite connect with. There was some kind of missing piece there,
1:21.8	no matter how many methods I used, that there was always some tension, some resistance,
1:26.8	some power struggle going on.
1:29.8	Well, one day, Tim Beck, that's what we used to call him Tim.
1:35.4	That was kind of his nickname.
1:36.6	Real name is Aaron Beck.
