Tyler Goodrich

When Tyler Goodrich’s husband, Marshall Vogel, asked him what his perfect night would be, Tyler said, “A movie night with our kids and pizza and just hanging out.” So that’s how they decided to spend the evening of November 3, 2023. But just two hours later, Tyler and Marshall got into an argument, and Tyler left the house. Joanne Ratcliffe and Kirste Gordon

A kidnapping happens in broad daylight in front of thousands of witnesses, but no one knows it’s a kidnapping. That’s what happened when a man abducted family friends, 11-year-old Joane Ratcliffe and 4-year-old Kirste Gordon from an Australian Rules football match on August 25, 1973. The stands were packed at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide Australia, with over 10,000 fans in attendance. Many of those there saw a middle-aged man in a wide-brimmed hat take the two girls, but said nothing, assuming that he was their father. Over 50 years have passed, and after decades of investigation and thousands of leads, recent breakthroughs have led to two extremely strong and chillingly similar suspects. Is one of Australia’s most infamous unsolved crimes close to a resolution?  If you have any information which may assist both families and police to locate Kirste and Joanne, please make contact with Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000Play Texas Advocacy Project's The Big Game!Subscribe to Day by Day: True Crime StoriesBuy the ebook! - And Then They Were Gone: True Stories of Those Who Went Missing and Never Came HomeSubmit a caseFind us everywhereGet episodes early and ad-free on PatreonMerch storeFor a full list of our sources, please visit our blog Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Jodi Huisentruit

On June 27, 1995, 27-year-old Jodi Huisentruit was late for work. This wasn’t too shocking, as she anchored the morning news show for KIMT in Mason City Iowa, and usually had to be at the studio by 3:30 am. Oversleeping wasn’t uncommon, which is one of the reasons Jodi lived so close to work. When her co-worker Amy called Jodi, she found that the anchor had, in fact, overslept, but was on her way. Except Jodi never arrived. Hours went by, and Amy knew something was wrong. Once police arrived at Jodi’s apartment complex, they saw a terrifying scene. Jodi was gone, and it was clear she didn’t leave on her own. An investigation ensued, but despite media coverage and law enforcement efforts, Jodi’s case went cold. There have been many theories over the years, but now, nearly 30 years after Jodi Huisentruit’s disappearance, could we finally be getting closer to the truth? Anyone with information on Jodi Huisentruit's disappearance is urged to call the Mason City Police Department at 515-421-3636.If you would like to leave an anonymous tip via phone, please call 641-999-1109.Play Texas Advocacy Project's The Big Game!Subscribe to Day by Day: True Crime StoriesBuy the ebook!

Latasha Crump-Coleman

“People don’t want to help until it’s national.” That’s what Candice Bryant told Dateline when she asked for help finding her friend, Latasha Crump Coleman. At the time, the 46-year-old mother and corrections officer had been missing from Jackson, Mississippi for two months. Jackson Police had performed two searches, but with few clues found, Tasha’s loved ones were terrified that her case was going to go cold.Latasha was last seen on July 18, 2023. When she was a no-call no-show at work two days after, her adult son Dexter and the rest of the family immediately suspected that something had happened to Tasha, and those suspicions were pointed squarely at her estranged husband, Derrick Coleman. Tasha’s family spent the next year searching for her and fighting for justice. Then, on July 21, 2024, just a few days after the one-year anniversary of Tasha’s disappearance, a shocking act of violence occurred that made her loved ones wonder if they would ever get the answers they were desperately seeking.Latasha Crump-Coleman was driving a gray 2002 Acura MDX, with a Mississippi license plate HPA8639. Update: Mamta Kafle - New Charges

The last time Mamta Kafle spoke to anyone outside of her home was the evening July 29, 2024, when she had a video call with her mother in Nepal. When her mom called Mamta back the next morning at around 11 am, her call went unanswered. According to prosecutors in Prince William County, Virginia, that is because Mamta was dead. Mamta’s husband, Naresh Bhatt, claimed she had taken off, leaving both him and their 11-month-old daughter behind. After weeks of public outcry, and multiple search warrants, Naresh Bhatt was arrested on August 22, 2024 on the charge of concealing a dead body. Over the next several months, there were hearings in which the prosecution detailed a horrific case against Bhatt: one that involved him killing his 28-year-old wife in their Manassas Park home and disposing of her body. Then, on December 2, new evidence led prosecutors to charge Bhatt with two more crimes: Defiling a Dead Body and First Degree Murder. Now Naresh awaits trial, while the community wonders if he’ll ever reveal where Mamta is. If you have any information regarding Mamta Kafle's disappearance, you are asked to contact the Manassas Park Police Department at 703-361-1136. This phone number is monitored 24 hours a day. If you wish to remain anonymous you can contact the Manassas/Manassas Park Crime Solvers at 703-330-0330. While this may seem like an odd form of punishment, it was actually something that had been recommended by Bianca’s therapist. But on March 10, 2005, Bianca never made it home. Investigators in Foley, Missouri performed an extensive search but uncovered almost no clues regarding the missing girl. Over the years, they’ve investigated many theories, including the possibility of Bianca’s disappearance being related to those of other children in Lincoln County. Was Bianca abducted by a stranger, or was the reason behind her disappearance closer to home? Anyone with information regarding Bianca Piper’s disappearance is urged to submit a tip through the Lincoln County Sheriff’s website or through their tipline at 636-462-6513. Jaliek Rainwalker

“Dear Everybody, I’m sorry for everything. I won’t bother you anymore. Goodbye, Jaliek.” This is the letter that Stephen Kerr said his 12-year-old adopted son left in his empty bedroom at his grandparents’ home on November 1, 2007, right before he went missing. By all accounts, Jaliek was an emotionally troubled boy, and there was a great deal of friction within his family. Is this a note written by a child right before he decided to run away? Or, is there more to this letter and Jaliek’s home life than it appears? Jaliek Rainwalker has been missing from Greenwich, New York, for nearly 17 years. In the 12 years leading up to his disappearance, multiple people failed this child. Now, the question is, where is Jaliek Rainwalker, and who is responsible for his disappearance? Anyone with information regarding Jaliek Rainwalker’s disappearance is urged to call the Greenwich Village Police Department at 518-692-9332. Update: Shane Donahue

1, 2, 3, the Donahue family counted. 4, 5, 6, the numbers changed on the banner at their Arden Road home in Nokesville, Virginia. The days turned into weeks, which turned into months, which turned into years. The number had reached over 5,000 before the Donahue family got the news that they had been waiting for: an arrest had been made in the murder of their son, Shane. On March 22, 2010, 23-year-old Shane Donahue left his parents’ home and told them that he loved them. Shane, who didn’t drive at the time, got a ride with his buddy, Tim Hickerson. Shane was never seen nor heard from again. Over the past 14 years, there have been many allegations made by both the Donahue and Hickerson families, but little in the way of answers or media coverage. Then, on September 17, 2024, Tim Hickerson was arrested in Florida for the murder of his friend, Shane Donahue. It marks the first major movement on this case in over a decade, but the disappearance of Shane Donahue is far from being solved. Anyone with information regarding Shane Donahue’s disappearance is urged to contact the Prince William County Police Department at 763-792-7279. Re-Release: Morgan Nick

On October 2, 2024, police announced a huge break in the case of missing 6-year-old, Morgan Nick. A hair that is a DNA match to hers was found in the truck owned by longtime suspect in her case, Billy Jack Links. Links died in prison in 2000, so now the investigation's focus is on finding Morgan's body. We released our episode on Morgan's case in 2021, so this week we are re-releasing it here.  6-year-old Morgan Nick was catching fireflies with her friends on a hot summer night in Alma, Arkansas. She was with her mother at a little league game, having the sort of summer that childhood memories are built on. But as the game ended and her friends returned to their parents, Morgan was gone. Only minutes had passed since Morgan had been seen, but there was no trace of the little girl. Despite a lightning-fast police response and an eyewitness account of a “creepy” man talking to Morgan, no trace of her was found after June 9, 1995.  But nearly 30 years later, Morgan’s mother Colleen still spends every single day fighting for her daughter and searching for answers. Can new technology be the key to finally bringing Morgan home? If you have any information regarding Morgan Nick’s disappearance, please contact the Alma, Arkansas Police at 479-632-3333. Hannah Upp

It was a scene straight out of an action movie: specifically The Bourne Identity. On September 16, 2008, the captain of a Staten Island Ferry saw a woman floating face down in the Hudson River, near the Statue of Liberty. Horrified and thinking they found a dead body, two deckhands jumped in a rescue boat and went to her. When they reached the woman, one picked her up by her ankles, while another picked her up by her shoulders. To everyone’s shock, the woman took a gasp of air and started crying. This is how Hannah Upp was found after she went missing– the first time. Over the next decade, Hannah Upp, a young, well-liked teacher, would go missing two more times. After her first two rescues, she had no idea where she had been or how she had spent her time. On September 14, 2017, Hannah was living in St. Thomas, on the U.S. Virgin Islands. She had survived Hurricane Irma, and three days before Hurricane Maria was poised to hit, Hannah Upp disappeared for a third time. Did she perish in the water, as many people believe, or is she still out there somewhere, with no idea who she is? On November 21, 2022, 11-year-old Madalina Cojocari boarded her school bus and went to school as usual. That afternoon, the bus dropped her off near her Cornelius, North Carolina home. But the next day, the bus went to school without Madalina, and no one at her school has seen her since. The most chilling part of her disappearance? Madalina’s family never reported her missing. Both Madalina’s mother, Diana, and her step-father, Christopher Palmiter, were arrested. Now, over a year and a half after Madalina was last seen, they’re both out, but many questions remain. This week, we’ll be going over what has happened in the case since our original episode in 2023, and we’ll discuss who the police have just named as their main suspect in Madalina’s disappearance. Anyone with information on Madalina’s whereabouts is asked to call the Cornelius Police Department at 704-892-7773 or the FBI at 1-800-CALL FBI. Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous can call North Mecklenburg Crime Stoppers at 704-896-7867. Re-Release: Madalina Cojocari

This is a re-release of our April 2023 episode on Madalina Cojocari. You can listen to our June 2024 update here. Imagine the abject fear a parent would experience after their 11-year-old child has been missing for over three weeks. No one has heard from her, no one has seen her. You’d be climbing the walls, right? Begging investigators and the public to help you find her? That’s what usually happens, but not in the case of Madalina Cojocari.  Madalina went to school as normal on November 21, 2022, but she didn’t show up the next day. Or the day after that. Eventually, on December 12, a school resource officer from Bailey Middle School attempted a home visit and left a truancy packet. It wouldn’t be until December 15, over three weeks since her daughter was last seen, that her mother, Diana Cojocari admitted to school officials that she didn’t know where her daughter was. The Cornelius, North Carolina community has been frantically trying to find the missing little girl, while her parents sit in jail. Months have gone by, but no one is answering the question: where is Madalina Cojocari? Anyone with information about Madalina Cojocari is asked to call the Cornelius Police Department at 704-892-7773, or the FBI at 1-800-Call FBI. Cualquier persona que tenga información sobre Madalina Cojocari debe llamar al Departamento de Policía de Cornelius al 704-892-7773, o al FBI al 1-800-Call FBI. In 1997, Bonnie decided that a more drastic life change was in order: she wanted a divorce. Bonnie’s husband, Rick Schultz, didn’t want to end the marriage, and on July 3, 1997, Bonnie went out with some friends to clear her head. The Indianapolis, Indiana mom was never seen again. At first, Bonnie’s disappearance was thought to be an accident, but when no signs of the 45 year old or her car were found, they began to suspect foul play. Nicole Morin

July 30, 1985 was a hot summer day in Toronto, Ontario, and 8-year-old Nicole Morin planned on spending it at the pool with her friends. The little girl donned her bathing suit, grabbed her beach towel, and said goodbye to her mother, Jeanette. It was around 11 am when Nicole left her penthouse apartment and headed to the elevator to meet her friend in the lobby. But Nicole never arrived. Once Jeanette realized that her daughter was missing and called the police, the search for Nicole quickly became the largest investigation in Toronto’s history up to that point. A tremendous amount of time, money, and effort was put into finding Nicole Morin, but no trace of her was found. Was this simply a crime of opportunity, or was Nicole’s disappearance related to a much larger issue in Toronto in the 80s? Anyone with information on Nicole Morin’s disappearance is asked to contact police at 416-808-2205 or via email at [email protected]. Sky Metalwala

A troubled marriage leads to divorce and a bitter custody battle, with two young children caught in the middle. In 2011 Julia Birukova and her two children, 4-year-old Maile and 2-year-old Sky were living in an apartment in Redmond, Washington. On November 6, 2011, Julia and her children were up early. Sky was sick, and she needed to take him to the hospital. She bundled the children into her brother’s car that she was borrowing, and headed to the Overlake Medical Center. But they never arrived. According to Julia, the car ran out of gas on the way. She left Sky strapped in his car seat as she and Maile went to go get help, but when she returned, her son was gone. Sky’s father, Solomon Metalwala was immediately suspicious of his estranged wife’s story, as were Bellevue Police. However, it’s been over a decade since Sky was last seen, and there have been no arrests in his case, or answers as to what happened to the little boy on that November morning. Re-Release: Richard Hoagland

No new episode this week, so in celebration of the release of The Tortured Poet's Department, Taylor Swift's new album, and the song, "Florida," we're re-releasing the episode on Richard Hoagland, the Indianapolis family man who walked away from his wife and kids in 1993 and decided to re-invent himself in-- you guessed it-- Florida. --- Richard Hoagland was a successful family man who lived with his wife and two sons in a suburb outside of Indianapolis, Indiana. On February 10, 1993, he called his wife from work and told her he was sick and heading to the emergency room. He never came home again. For over 23 years, his wife Linda and their two sons wondered about his fate. But in 2016, a bizarre story emerged that proved Richard Hoagland wasn’t who they or anyone else thought he was.
