On December 11, 1994, 4-year-old D’Wan Sims, went with his mother Dwanna Harris to do some Christmas shopping at the Wonderland Mall in Livonia, Michigan. According to Dwanna, they arrived around 1:45 PM and entered through the Target store at the mall. D’Wan followed his mother around the mall until one horrible moment when Dwanna realized her son was no longer by her side.A massive search ensued, but there was no sign of the little boy. As the investigation intensified, Livonia police began to wonder, “was D’Wan ever at the mall in the first place?” Now, over thirty years later, investigators are still trying to figure out exactly what happened on that cold December day, and hoping to finally find D’Wan.If you have information about the disappearance of D’Wan Sims, please contact the Livonia Police Department at 734-466-2470.Subscribe to Day by Day: True Crime StoriesBuy the ebook! - And Then They Were Gone: True Stories of Those Who Went Missing and Never Came HomeSubmit a caseFind us everywhereGet episodes early and ad-free on PatreonMerch store Our Sponsors: * Check out Acorns Early: https://acornsearly.com/ATTWG * Check out Avocado Green Mattress: https://avocadogreenmattress.com * Check out Earth Breeze: https://earthbreeze.com/attwg * Check out Everyday Dose and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://everydaydose.com * Check out Happy Mammoth and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://happymammoth.com * Check out Kensington Publishing: https://www.kensingtonbooks.com * Check out Mind of a Monster: The Killer Nurse: https://podcasts.apple.com * Check out Mood and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://mood.com * Check out PharmaNutra and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://pharmanutra-us.com * Check out Quince: https://quince.com/ATTWG * Check out Uncommon Goods: https://uncommongoods.com/attwg Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

In this special episode of 'And Then They Were Gone', Kona and Ethan return to a case they’ve been following for years, the disappearance and murder of Shane Donahue, to break down everything that unfolded inside the courtroom during the trial of Tim Hickerson.Kona attended the trial in person, witnessing each day of testimony, every witness, and the prosecution’s strategy as they laid out their case against the man accused of taking Shane’s life. This episode walks listeners through how prosecutors presented their evidence, how witnesses held up under cross-examination, and what key moments left those sitting in the courtroom confounded.Throughout the conversation, Kona and Ethan reflect on what they’ve learned since first covering Shane’s disappearance in 2020, and what this trial revealed about the events leading up to his death, the investigation that followed, and the long path toward justice. This is a deep dive into one of Prince William County, Virginia's most controversial cases, and a look at what it’s like to sit inside a courtroom when a 15-year-old case is finally put in front of a jury. Subscribe to Day by Day: True Crime StoriesBuy the ebook! - And Then They Were Gone: True Stories of Those Who Went Missing and Never Came HomeSubmit a caseFind us everywhereGet episodes early and ad-free on PatreonMerch store Our Sponsors: * Check out Acorns Early: https://acornsearly.com/ATTWG * Check out Bioma Health and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://gobioma.com/ATTWG * Check out Earth Breeze: https://earthbreeze.com/attwg * Check out Earth Breeze: https://earthbreeze.com/attwg * Check out Everyday Dose and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://everydaydose.com * Check out Kensington Publishing: https://www.kensingtonbooks.com * Check out Mind of a Monster: The Killer Nurse: https://podcasts.apple.com * Check out Mood and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://mood.com * Check out PharmaNutra and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://pharmanutra-us.com * Check out Quince: https://quince.com/ATTWG * Check out Uncommon Goods: https://uncommongoods.com/attwg Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

In the days following the 1980 presidential election, 44-year-old political fundraiser Nancy Marleine Snow returned home to Maryland — and vanished.A multilingual world traveler and political professional, Nancy had spent the fall working on a Senate campaign in St. Louis. On November 4, she flew to Baltimore, attended an election party, and the next morning, was picked up by a man she trusted — her housesitter, Paul T. Collins III. That was the last confirmed time she was seen alive.Days later, Collins told police that Nancy had met a mysterious man called “Captain Jay,” who offered her a job crewing a yacht from Fort Lauderdale to the Caribbean. He claimed she left Annapolis with $1,000 in cash and would be home by Christmas. But investigators never found a “Captain Jay.” No boat, no records, no passport use — nothing to support the story. As weeks passed, Nancy’s daughters in California grew frantic. When her oldest daughter’s birthday came and went with no call, they knew something was wrong. They filed missing-person reports, searched Florida marinas, and pushed police in Maryland to investigate.Decades later, detectives would call Nancy’s disappearance what they believe it truly was — a homicide. The man who last saw her, Paul Collins, remains a person of interest. The supposed boat trip? Still unverified.Nancy’s remains? Still missing.Forty-four years later, her daughters continue to fight for answers.Subscribe to Day by Day: True Crime StoriesBuy the ebook! - And Then They Were Gone: True Stories of Those Who Went Missing and Never Came HomeSubmit a caseFind us everywhereGet episodes early and ad-free on PatreonMerch store Our Sponsors: * Check out Acorns Early: https://acornsearly.com/ATTWG * Check out Bioma Health and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://gobioma.com/ATTWG * Check out Earth Breeze: https://earthbreeze.com/attwg * Check out Happy Mammoth and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://happymammoth.com * Check out Kensington Publishing: https://www.kensingtonbooks.com * Check out Mood and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://mood.com * Check out PharmaNutra and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://pharmanutra-us.com * Check out Quince: https://quince.com/ATTWG * Check out Uncommon Goods: https://uncommongoods.com/attwg Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

We’ve all heard of people who have used children as pawns in a divorce. Maybe they’re fighting on visitation or child support payments because they don’t want to give their soon-to-be ex what they want. But in some extreme cases, the animosity and need for control can be destructive. Charles Vosseler needed to be in charge. He needed to decide where his two sons, 3-year-old CJ, and 2-year-old Billy, were at all times. So when it was clear that his marriage to his wife, Ruth, wasn’t working out, Charles hatched a plan.On October 9, 1986, this plan culminated in him kidnapping his children and keeping them hidden for decades. Over the past 30-plus years, Ruth has never given up on her children. Today, she is still out there fighting to keep their names and their faces in the public consciousness, in hopes of finally bringing them home. There is a $25,000 reward offered to anyone who can provide information leading to the location of Charles Vosseler, CJ, or Billy. If you have any information, please contact your local FBI Field Office, your local American Embassy or Consulate, or the Rochester Police at 603-335-7529.Se ofrece una recompensa de $ 25,000 a cualquiera que pueda proporcionar informaciĂłn que conduzca a la ubicaciĂłn de Charles Vosseler, CJ o Billy. In this bonus episode, we're not talking about a missing person. Instead, Ethan and Kona are sitting down to discuss how she got arrested in front of their house on June 11, 2025. What started off as an evening at home with family turned into her getting thrown into the back of a cop car, two court dates, and a formal complaint against a Loudoun County Sheriff's Deputy. You'll hear the whole story, including how the Sheriff's Office may be using a county statute in order to intimidate members of the community who have interactions with their deputies. This is a conversation that isn't in our normal format or subject matter, but we'll be back next week with a regularly scheduled episode.Subscribe to Day by Day: True Crime StoriesBuy the ebook! -Â And Then They Were Gone: True Stories of Those Who Went Missing and Never Came HomeSubmit a caseFind us everywhereGet episodes early and ad-free on PatreonMerch store Our Sponsors: * Check out Acorns Early: https://acornsearly.com/ATTWG * Check out BetterHelp: https://betterhelp.com/ATTWG * Check out Bioma Health and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://www.google.com * Check out Earth Breeze: https://earthbreeze.com/attwg * Check out Happy Mammoth and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://happymammoth.com * Check out Mood and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://mood.com * Check out PharmaNutra and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://pharmanutra-us.com * Check out TruDiagnostic and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://www.trudiagnostic.com Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

“Go no farther. There’s nothing in this cave worth dying for.” Those were the words printed on the sign at the entrance of an underwater cave in Vortex Springs, Florida. Despite this plaintive warning and the drawing of the Grim Reaper that accompanied it, many divers of differing skill levels failed to heed these words in search of adventure. On August 18, 2010, 30-year-old Ben McDaniel was seen entering the water in his scuba gear. He was never seen on land again. What was at first assumed to be a tragic, yet straightforward diving accident came into question as days went by without Ben’s body being found. Did Ben get deeper into the cave than anyone could have imagined? Or did someone remove him from the water before searchers could find him? Some have questioned if Ben was ever in the water at all that night, or if something completely different happened on the ground. Twenty-three days later, she disappeared.  Police initially believed that she left on her own, but her family knew she would never do that. As the investigation unfolded, plenty of suspects popped up: the four male strangers she was renting a room from; a mysterious blonde woman she was seen talking to the afternoon she disappeared; the violent man who called a news station to say he knew exactly what had happened to her. But despite years of investigations by police and private investigators, the whereabouts of Kristen Modafferi, a brilliant, artistic young woman living her dream summer, remain unknown. If you have information about the disappearance of Kristen Modafferi, please contact the Oakland Police Department Missing Persons Unit at 510-238-3641. Subscribe to Day by Day: True Crime StoriesBuy the ebook! - And Then They Were Gone: True Stories of Those Who Went Missing and Never Came HomeSubmit a caseFind us everywhereGet episodes early and ad-free on PatreonMerch store Our Sponsors: * Check out Acorns Early: https://acornsearly.com/ATTWG * Check out BetterHelp: https://betterhelp.com/ATTWG * Check out Earth Breeze: https://earthbreeze.com/attwg * Check out Kensington Publishing: https://www.kensingtonbooks.com * Check out Mood and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://mood.com * Check out Rosetta Stone and use my code TODAY for a great deal: https://www.rosettastone.com * Check out TruDiagnostic and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://www.trudiagnostic.com Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

At 10:45 am on June 13, 2001, 19-year-old Jason Jolkowski was seen outside his family’s home in Omaha, Nebraska, helping his younger brother bring in the trash cans.He was scheduled to work that day at a local Fazoli’s restaurant. But because his car was in the shop, Jason had arranged for a coworker to pick him up at his old high school—just eight blocks away. He told his family he was heading out. He never made it to the school. He never made it to work. And he was never seen again. There were no witnesses. No security footage. No clues. Just a young man who vanished in the middle of a sunny day, in a quiet residential neighborhood, during a walk that should’ve taken ten minutes. If you have any information about the disappearance of Jason Jolkowski, please contact the Omaha Police Department at (402) 444-5818. Subscribe to Day by Day: True Crime StoriesBuy the ebook! - And Then They Were Gone: True Stories of Those Who Went Missing and Never Came HomeSubmit a caseFind us everywhereGet episodes early and ad-free on PatreonMerch storeFor a full list of our sources, please visit our blog Our Sponsors: * Check out Armoire: https://armoire.style/ATTWG * Check out Avocado Green Mattress: https://www.avocadogreenmattress.com * Check out Effecty and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://www.effecty.com * Check out Happy Mammoth and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://happymammoth.com * Check out Mood and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://mood.com * Check out My Life in a Book and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://mylifeinabook.com * Check out TruDiagnostic and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://www.trudiagnostic.com Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

October 24, 1953 was a typical fall Friday night in La Crosse, Wisconsin. La Crosse State College was playing their homecoming game, and families and students filled the stands.Fifteen-year-old Evelyn Hartley was supposed to be at that game too, but at the last minute, she agreed to help a family friend and babysit their toddler so the parents could go to the game themselves. She brought her schoolbooks and planned to spend the night studying after the baby went to bed. It was supposed to be a quiet evening, and an opportunity for Evelyn to make some extra money. But when Evelyn’s father tried to call her later that night and didn’t get an answer, something didn’t sit right with him. He got in his car and drove over to the house where she was babysitting. What he found wasn’t just unsettling—it was a scene that would spark one of the most intense missing persons investigations in Wisconsin's history.Anyone with any information about Evelyn Hartley’s disappearance is urged to call the La Crosse Police Department at 608-785-5962.Subscribe to Day by Day: True Crime StoriesBuy the ebook! - And Then They Were Gone: True Stories of Those Who Went Missing and Never Came HomeSubmit a caseFind us everywhereGet episodes early and ad-free on PatreonMerch storeFor a full list of our sources, please visit our blog Our Sponsors: * Check out Armoire: https://armoire.style/ATTWG * Check out Avocado Green Mattress: https://www.avocadogreenmattress.com * Check out Effecty and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://www.effecty.com * Check out Happy Mammoth and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://happymammoth.com * Check out Mood and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://mood.com * Check out TruDiagnostic and use my code ATTWG for a great deal: https://www.trudiagnostic.com Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

A kidnapping happens in broad daylight in front of thousands of witnesses, but no one knows it’s a kidnapping. That’s what happened when a man abducted family friends, 11-year-old Joane Ratcliffe and 4-year-old Kirste Gordon from an Australian Rules football match on August 25, 1973. The stands were packed at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide Australia, with over 10,000 fans in attendance. Many of those there saw a middle-aged man in a wide-brimmed hat take the two girls, but said nothing, assuming that he was their father. Over 50 years have passed, and after decades of investigation and thousands of leads, recent breakthroughs have led to two extremely strong and chillingly similar suspects. Is one of Australia’s most infamous unsolved crimes close to a resolution?  If you have any information which may assist both families and police to locate Kirste and Joanne, please make contact with Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000Play Texas Advocacy Project's The Big Game!Subscribe to Day by Day: True Crime StoriesBuy the ebook! - And Then They Were Gone: True Stories of Those Who Went Missing and Never Came HomeSubmit a caseFind us everywhereGet episodes early and ad-free on PatreonMerch storeFor a full list of our sources, please visit our blog Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
