Today's front page of the Times, elderly will bear brunt of strikes at Christmas and in the Daily Mail singing from the same hymn sheet,

junior doctor's strike will force thousands to spend Christmas in hospital. The Telegraph really

earned its corn this morning. They've concocted a truly ridiculous story about Kirstama working as a lawyer

when he was a lawyer. If Kirstama had been a doctor before going into Parliament,

the Daily Telegraph and sundry other client journalists today would be trying to turn the fact

that he once treated some criminals into a story and a scandal. Kirstama treated criminals when

working as a doctor. Kirstama defended criminals when working as a lawyer. I don't know how stupid the editor of the

Daily Telegraph thinks you are, but rest assured that this is a corner of the British media

that credits you with a little more intelligence than that. But it is also a corner of the British

media that has, perhaps on occasion, fallen into a small trap.

And that trap is best described

as it being just as daft

to oppose every instance of industrial action

as it would be to support every single instance

of industrial action.

And I think perhaps over the years

we've been primed to give the benefit of the doubt to

striking public service workers. I still am. I have to be honest with you. I think that the oddest

element of these conversations is the fact that people, and I'm afraid I have to put myself in this category,
