Hello, everyone, and welcome to this week's episode of Every Square Inch.

This is the last podcast of a discussion we have been

having, introducing our new organization. After this one, we will move on to some of the content.

Listeners of this podcast are more accustomed to essentially cultural engagement through the lens of the Christian worldview.

But this week, I want to conclude a topic I began last week.

But essentially, I gave a very basic explanation of the theological concept known as sphere sovereignty. Again, I won't rehash

that. You can listen to it, but it was my attempt to offer a practical way forward by which we

labor for the common good of our common wealth. Christ for Kentucky is an equipping, empowering, a strategizing organization

for Kentucky Christians, but ultimately the answer to thy kingdom come, thy will be done in Kentucky

as it is in heaven belongs to the followers of Jesus in Kentucky.

And so hopefully I helped us imagine what that looks like on a practical level last week.

Now, I've taught on this enough to know that a major stumbling block to this concept is our cynicism. It all sounds great in theory,

but come on, does this actually work? Do this really change the world? In the last episode,

we discussed the limitations of the coercive power of both the church and the state to change the world.

But at least when we think of the church and state as institutions, we can imagine they possess a

power to actually bring about change. Perhaps they are inept of doing that, but the potential is at least there.

But when we think of sphere sovereignty in the life of the Christian, the problem we face is whether it actually has the power to bring about substantive change.

And this skepticism cripples our motivation to labor for a better world within our spheres.

That cynicism is what I want to try and overcome in this episode.
