If you've never really thought about what it means to you, to be an artist, in this episode,

A lot of times, after making the decision to be an artist,

after making the decision as an adult, let's say,

because I know a lot of people think like when,

like I decided when I was a kid,

but let's just say after making the decision as an adult to pursue this vocation and

declaring that, yes, I am an artist, this is what I do. We don't often really think about what that means other than,

okay, now I paint, now this is how I make my living. So in this episode, I'm inviting you to get a little more clarity on how you define that for yourself and to just notice all the ways that you describe it, either internally or to other people and what that creates for you.

I think a lot of times artists will talk about concepts without really taking a minute to recognize what that concept means to them personally.

And if you're not clear on what that is, you produce unintentional results, maybe results that are the opposite of what you actually want.

So we have our style of painting, which I think of as technique and subject matter.

This is something that can change, this is something that we can play around with,

and it might change frequently as you hone your skills and learn new ways of painting.

Then we have our voice.
