I want to start this podcast episode with some brutal honesty.

The word authentic to me is overly hyped and definitely overly used these days.

So much so that it's often overshadowed by the celebrity status of the people that use that word.

And that's why it's so hard for me to do this entire podcast

on this one idea within your business before we take a deep dive into marketing. I think it is

imperative that we understand what authenticity is and what it isn't. If I ask you right now to

write down the definition, could you? Would you whip up some

really wordy definition or would you hit the nail on the head? If you haven't noticed by now,

I really like to define words throughout my life. And ever since I started recording this podcast,

I have defined at least one word in every single show.

And that's because my personality, I really like clarity and focus.

Whenever I stray away from the reality of a real word and its actual meeting,

I try to define the word based on what Mr. Webster says, not the way that the word is influenced by society.
