Summary

The 3 Big Questions We're Answering:

1. How can we effectively navigate the influence of technology and screens in our children's lives while promoting a more active and engaged lifestyle?

2. What strategies can we use to create an environment that encourages healthier habits, both at home and in social settings with friends and neighbors?

3. How can we foster open conversations with our children about nutrition and screen time, ensuring they understand the reasons behind our family rules and values?

Welcome to the chase. Hello and welcome to another episode of chasing excellence. Thank you,

0:30.0

as always, for joining us. How are you been? Doing great. Thanks, Patrick. I'm my friend. We've got a

0:35.3

question from Dora.

0:40.0

A bit of a long one, but I'm going to get through the whole thing.

0:44.9

She says, we have incredibly kind neighbors who like to hang out with us outside while the kids are playing around us.

0:46.5

I really love these people, so I have to emphasize that I don't judge them.

0:49.3

I just acknowledge that they have different habits, life, and values. As a result, their teenage children are already

obese and their two-year-old is overweight. A few days ago, they invited us over for the first time.

so the kids were mindlessly eating while the teenagers were also constantly checking their phones.

I then understood that this, quote-unquote, mindless eating is the reason they keep

1:11.6

gaining weight. While the neighbor's children enjoy playing outside, they can't always keep up with my

1:15.4

kids. And in 20 to 30 minutes, I find them sitting on the bench playing on their phones instead.

1:19.8

This is something I would really love to avoid later on. How do I raise them so they'll enjoy

1:24.2

moving more than screens? I think I'm doing okay on the mindful eating part,

1:28.3

but my four-year-old is already asking when he can get a phone because his older friends love to play

1:32.8

games and he also wants to try. He has kindergarten friends who already have phones, although it's

1:37.2

fortunately not the norm. I've accepted the fact that he is going to use a phone in the future and see
