Before we jump into today, I'll talk about the difference between hope as work and hope

as magic.

There are some people who talk about being hopeless, there are some people who are pessimistic

in this moment.

And I would say that a lot of those people think about hope as being magic.

The things will just get better because we want them to get better or it won't take any

effort. And the reality is that hope is work.

That when I say I'm hopeful, I understand hope to be the understanding that our tomorrow

is can be better than our today's.

And it only gets there because people put in work.

That the people before I sit and just believe in a future that was equitable and just

and it just got a little bit better by sheer belief.
