Food, getting a bite together, Sunday dinners.

The things we eat and spending time together are a cultural phenomenon in which everyone

participates, and you have to eat to stay alive and receive nourishment between electrolytes, proteins, carbohydrates and fats.

And something that is so uniquely tied to our survival in the last few years has become exceptionally confusing.

Because if you go online or you listen to the news, every other day something is good for you,

something's not good for you, and our patients have all kinds of questions about food

and is it okay to eat.

So recently, I started asking some people online, hey, what are the questions you have

that you want to ask your physician about things that you

eat?

And they came back to me with several doosies.

So let's this week talk about the questions your patients have about all the foods and

snacks they're going to eat.

the food questions your patients are going to ask you and you may want to know the answers. Now avocados are one of the things many of you ask questions about and the reason why is because Americans consume something like 3 billion pounds annually.

So I don't think the song Bye-By-By Miss American Pie is really appropriate.

Maybe it should be Hello Hello Guacamole Lady.

But of course I digress. What we know is that around a fifth of all of your

avocado consumption is usually around a sporting event, like for example the Super Bowl.

And the most common question about this is what if the avocado has turned brown?

Well it turns out that the inner part of the avocado known as the flesh

always turns brown or even dark black due to a chemical reaction known as oxidation.
