At 5 a.m. Eastern, polls opened in Vermont.

As we post this, they're about to open in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine, Virginia, and Kentucky.

Election Day is officially underway. By later tonight, the eyes of the

world will be squarely on the U.S. as the votes are counted and as winners are projected. And remember,

we have no idea what's about to happen here. You've heard the race is tight, and it is in at least

seven key battleground states. Polling suggests it's a statistical dead heat.

And yet, if all those polls are off by even 2%, which is a totally plausible scenario,

bigger blind spots have appeared before, you could be looking at a scenario where it's an electoral blowout,

where a winner is projected tonight. It's that unpredictable.
