Hi, everybody. It is Thursday, October 30th Halloween Eve. And I just thought I would jump on real

0:19.2

quick to talk a little bit about the shutdown,

0:21.6

because we haven't really addressed that topic alone. And I like doing these quick hits for you.

0:27.2

In television news, we would call a very quick report a hit. Oh, are you ready for your hit?

0:33.0

Are you going to get, you could do your hit? Is it a 30 second hit? Is it a two minute hit? So that's why i refer to this as a quick hit because it's just a little bit of information for you on a topic that in this

0:43.2

case i think is really important but we haven't put a lot of attention to and there's a reason for

0:49.1

that that i want to explain but here we are october 30th we're're drifting into the weekend. And this is why I wanted to

0:57.0

jump in front of you, if I can, just for this moment, because I had this feeling suddenly that we're

1:04.0

going to get through the weekend. We're going to wake up on Monday. By the way, the clock's

1:07.6

changed this weekend, so don't forget about that. We're going to wake up on Monday and we're going to be in historically unprecedented times because at that point, we would be matched, more or less, for the longest government shutdown in modern times. I'm going to explain that caveat in just a moment. So I don't want that to happen to you. I don't want you to get caught off guard. And you're seeing a lot of different headlines about what could take place in this sort of

1:32.6

scenario. You've seen that over the last several weeks, haven't you? Someone's not going to get their

1:35.9

money. Who's not going to get paid? Who's not going to get benefits? What does that look like?

1:39.8

And I just want to be really honest with you that if this shutdown extends past Monday, which

1:47.5

it looks like it will, and even if there's suddenly, you hear this podcast and then suddenly

1:52.5

there's an agreement, Congress cannot fast forward time, despite the powers they think they

1:59.0

have. And there's a certain amount of time

2:02.3

that it takes to go through the routine and protocol of passing legislation. They can't speed that up

2:08.4

necessarily. So even if there is an agreement, or you see an agreement anytime soon,

2:13.9

just know it could be several days before that agreement is official. And so if anybody

2:17.5

is speaking with a great degree of confidence, if this is exactly what's going to take place,

2:23.3

I want you to know that we've never been here before. We haven't seen a shutdown extend into

2:29.6

40 days, 45 days, two months. We've never seen anything like that. Now, on Monday, we'd be around 34

...
