finding common ground, not even with members of your own family. But as the 2024 presidential

election looms on the horizon, there has never been a more important time to have the necessary conversation.

Welcome to another episode of The Necessary Conversation. This is a show that pits two adult

children, myself and my sister, Haley Pope, in conversations against our parents, Bob and Mary Lou,

Haley and I are very liberal, left-leaning. Our parents are Trump supporters, in some ways,

Q&N supporters. And so we try to have conversations with one another every week because we

haven't really talked to each other in about six years, not really since

Trump got elected. So we're forcing ourselves to re-engage with one another. And so far, I think

it's going well. If you want to go back and listen to last week's episode, it was our 10th episode,

and we all kind of give our opinions on how we think it's going. But we start this show every

week with a thing called the opening complaint.

This is where one of us gets to issue a complaint about society or politics or whatever,

and the other people on this podcast have to just listen to it and not say anything in opposition.
