America is deeply divided. There are only two sides to every issue, and there is no interest in finding common ground, not even with members of your own family. But as the 2024 presidential election looms on the horizon, there has never been a more important time to have the necessary conversation.

Welcome to another episode of The Necessary Conversation for anyone who is new and might be

joining us. The premise of this show is, my parents are Trump supporters. My sister and I are

not. And we have conversations about all of the

contemporary political news that is happening in the news cycle, a lot of which at this point

does in fact involve Donald Trump. Now, we usually open this show with a segment called the

opening complaint, where one of us gets to issue some complaint about society or politics or America

or whatever without interruption from anyone else. But this week, I thought we would do something

I thought today we would have a little roundtable discussion about how each of us feels about doing this so far 10 episodes in.

So for 10 weeks now, we've had an hour-long conversation about politics and some other off-politics topics as well.

But since Donald Trump got elected, we haven't really talked to each other for an hour

at all.

And now we've done it for 10 weeks in a row.

So, Dad, I'm going to go to you first.

How do you feel about this?

Do you think it's bringing us closer together as a family?

I don't think I'm as, what I want to say, aggravated with you two. But I'm still aggravated.
