First things first, this week we honored Indigenous People's Heritage Day, but I don't know if a

lot of people realize I certainly did not on Monday, which is the day that we used for that

honoring, that there was a typhoon that hit Alaska. And as you may know, there are a lot of

native communities, indigenous communities in Alaska, and basically several of them woke up with their houses floating down the river.

So far, one has been reported dead. There have been dozens of people rescued.

Roughly a thousand people have been displaced in a variety of Western Alaskan communities.

And according to the Alaskaaska beacon uh basically this

typhoon uh once it hit it has been very slow in terms of recovery because emergency supplies

which began to arrive but because of the way the geography of the land and the way in which ice

and the water like really interrupts the ability for um for land bridges that would allow people easy passage.

It's been really difficult.

According to the reports, the storm damaged boats, roads, airports, and power and sewer infrastructure over a vast region.

And damage assessments were not immediately available as emergency rescue efforts entered into yesterday.

I don't know what the Trump administration's decision to allow for

200 additional miles of land to be mined for data mining centers and a whole host of things

related to artificial intelligence and other forms of exploration. I don't know what that's going

to do to climate change in that region. I do know that they are already suffering drastically.
