Summary

Most of us have been taught to push through exhaustion, ignore the warning signs, and put our health on the back burner. But what happens when your body has been sounding the alarm for years?

In this episode of The Lo Life, Lo sits down with author, certified health coach, and patient advocate Amy Kurtz to talk about her 15-year journey to finally receiving a Lyme disease diagnosis and the emotional toll chronic illness leaves behind. Together, they explore why so many people stay stuck in survival mode, how chronic stress and medical trauma can reshape the nervous system, and why learning to advocate for your health has never been more important.

Whether you’re living with a chronic illness, caring for someone who is, or simply feeling burnt out, anxious, exhausted, or disconnected from yourself, this conversation offers practical tools, hope, and a reminder that healing is about more than just physical symptoms.

If you’ve ever been told “you look fine” while knowing something wasn’t right, this episode is for you.

But if you are struggling with your mental health, if you're feeling like shit right now, if you're depressed, anxious, just feeling overwhelmed, well, don't you worry, boo-boo, don't you fret. You have come to the right place. We're about to turn that frown upside down. We've got a great show in store for you today. This is a very inspiring story. I love this week's guest. Before we get into this week's conversation, though, I got to rate my mental health on a scale of one to 10. I'm actually feeling pretty good this week. I've been taking some time to just take care of myself, which I often neglect. And that's a problem. Like, I don't go to my infrared saunas, and I know that actually helps me out a lot. Sometimes I'm eating on the run, so I don't feel like I'm eating a well-balanced diet, but I've been working on that this week. And it makes such a difference when I just take a little bit of time to give myself a fighting chance at winning. Do you know what I mean? Like, if you just pack a snack that's healthy or make sure you allow for some time for you to get your steps in or to get outside for even 15 minutes. I've been doing things like that. Having Shammu has really helped too because, of course, I have to walk him and go outside, and he's so
